Before you start

You'll need a few things from your current carrier:

  • Your account number with your current carrier
  • Your transfer PIN (sometimes called a port-out PIN or account PIN)
  • The phone number you want to bring
  • Your billing ZIP code on file with your current carrier

If you don't know your transfer PIN, call your current carrier and ask for it — most carriers will text or email it to you in a few minutes.

What to do

  1. Activate your Thrive Mobile SIM in any phone. It's OK to start with a temporary Thrive number — we'll replace it with your real number once the transfer completes.
  2. From your Thrive Mobile account, open Settings → My Number → Transfer my number.
  3. Enter your existing number, current carrier, account number, and transfer PIN.
  4. Tap Submit transfer request.

Most transfers complete within 24 hours. You'll get a text confirmation as soon as your number is live on Thrive Mobile.

During the transfer

Keep your old SIM card active until you receive the confirmation text. You'll continue to receive calls on your old number during the transfer window — there's no service interruption.

Once the transfer is complete, your old carrier's SIM will stop working automatically. No need to call them to cancel.

Troubleshooting

The transfer is taking longer than 24 hours

Check the status in Settings → My Number → Transfer. Most delays are due to mismatched information — the name, billing address, or PIN on your transfer request needs to exactly match what your old carrier has on file.

My number didn't transfer

If the transfer fails, you'll get a notification with the reason. Most failures are recoverable — just resubmit with the corrected info. Common reasons:

  • PIN doesn't match — call your old carrier and re-confirm the transfer PIN
  • Account number mismatch — check your old carrier's account/billing page
  • Name spelled differently — match the name on your old carrier exactly, including any middle initials
