Quick check (works on any phone)

Open your dialer and type *#06#. If an EID number appears alongside your IMEI, your phone supports eSIM.

If you don't see an EID, your phone is not eSIM-capable. If you brought your own phone and it turns out not to support eSIM, contact us — Thrive Mobile may be able to send you a compatible device.

iPhone (XS and newer)

  1. Settings → General → About.
  2. Scroll to Digital SIM or Carrier Lock.
  3. If you see an IMEI under Digital SIM, your iPhone supports eSIM.
  4. Or, Settings → Cellular — if you see Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, you're good to go.

Android

Support varies by model. Most recent Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones work.

  1. Settings → Connections → SIM card manager (or SIMs on Pixel).
  2. Look for any of: Add eSIM, Download a SIM instead, or a QR-code scanner option.
  3. If one of those is there, your phone supports eSIM.

If you're not sure, check your phone manufacturer's website for the exact model.

Check that your phone is unlocked

Even if your phone supports eSIM, it has to be unlocked from your previous carrier before Thrive Mobile can activate.

iPhone

  1. Settings → General → About.
  2. Scroll to Carrier Lock.
  3. No SIM restrictions = unlocked, ready to activate.
  4. SIM locked = contact your previous carrier and ask them to unlock the phone. You may need to pay off a remaining balance first.

Android

  1. Settings → Connections (or Network & internet).
  2. Look for Network unlock status under more connection settings, or check Network Operators. If multiple networks are available, your phone is likely unlocked.
  3. If you're not sure, contact your previous carrier and ask whether the phone is unlocked.
