Your phone shows no signal or "Emergency calls only." Walk through these steps to restore service before contacting support.
What you're seeing
- Emergency Calls Only — your phone isn't connected to the network, but you can still dial 911.
- No Service — your phone can't reach any network.
- Exclamation mark on LTE/5G — you see signal but can't send messages or use data.
All three usually clear after the first few steps below. Work through them in order.
Quick fixes
1. Toggle Airplane Mode
Swipe down from the top of your screen to open quick settings. Turn Airplane Mode on, wait 10 seconds, then turn it off. This refreshes your network connection.
2. Restart your phone
Hold the power button → Restart (or Power off, wait, then turn back on). This clears most temporary glitches.
3. Reseat your SIM card
If you have a physical SIM:
- Turn off your phone.
- Remove the SIM tray.
- Inspect the SIM for damage; wipe off any dust.
- Reinsert firmly and turn your phone back on.
- Wait 1–2 minutes for signal to return.
Check your network settings
Settings → Network & internet → Mobile network (Android) or Settings → Cellular (iPhone). Confirm:
- Mobile Data is on.
- Preferred Network Type is set to 5G, LTE, or 4G.
- Automatically select network is on.
If you just activated your phone
- If you have a new physical SIM, confirm you finished the activation steps that came in the envelope.
- If you have an eSIM, open Settings → Cellular (iPhone) or Settings → SIMs (Android) and confirm your Thrive Mobile plan shows as active. If not, see Activate your eSIM.
Reset network settings (advanced)
This erases saved Wi-Fi passwords and paired Bluetooth devices, but it often fixes stubborn signal problems. Your apps, photos, and contacts are not affected.
- Android: search Settings for Reset network settings, then tap Reset.
- iPhone: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Restart your phone after the reset.
A few more things to check
- Battery Saver off — it can limit data and signal.
- Try a different location — step outside or move rooms. If signal returns, you may be in a weak-coverage spot.
- Try the SIM in another phone if you have one available. If it works in the other phone, the original phone is the issue. If it doesn't, the SIM or your service is.
Reach out if you've worked through the steps above and still don't have service. Have ready:
- Your Thrive Mobile number
- When the issue started
- Whether it happens everywhere or only in certain places
- Which steps you've already tried
We can check your account, confirm your SIM is active on our side, and send you a replacement if needed.
